The cost of proof-reading an item - whether it be fiction, non-fiction, academic or otherwise - depends on how many words the item consists of and how much work is required to correct it. For instance, if the item is reasonably well written and requires only superficial attention then the lower cost (light proof-reading) will apply. On the other hand, if the item requires a lot of work then there will be a higher charge (extensive proofreading). In extreme cases a total rewrite may be advisable. Don't worry if you're unsure as to how much editing your work requires as this is something that can be discussed at the outset. The rates are as follows:

Light Proofreading Required:                 £7-50 per 1000 words

Extensive Proofreading Required:          £8-25 per 1000 words

  Rewrite:                                                £14-50 per 1000 words

Ghostwriting*                                                    By negotiation
