Between 1988 and 1990 I attended the University of Sheffield studying Classical Civilisations, Biblical Studies, and Philosophy. After obtaining a BA (Hons) degree (grade 2:1) I went on to study for an MA in Philosophy of Mind. After leaving university I began working for the WEA teaching Philosophy to adults.
In recent years I have worked as a proof-reader and copyeditor. I began by successfully completing training courses with both Chapterhouse and Maple (proof-reading) and Streetwise (copywriting). I then worked in a voluntary capacity for various organisations before becoming a professional freelance proof-reader. During the last four years I have worked for a number of self-publishers, including WritersWorld and Trafford, and have worked on numerous assignments such as books, academic work, business documents, etc.
